About Us

We are a specialist wood flooring restoration and installation company, founded by James Ryan.

James learnt his craft by starting work at an extremely early age in sports hall floors all over the country, sanding them, applying different types of finishes, lining them but also ripping old floors out and installing bespoke new flooring systems …

James became fascinated with the many different types of wood flooring, textures and finishes but working only with sports hall wasn’t enough to satisfy James’s drive to explore and learn more about all types of wood flooring. James wanted to be the best in the industry and as there is a limitation with Commercial Industries with what types of timber they can install (because they must meet certain specifications), James set out to build his own wooden flooring company. He now offers domestic restorations and installs, as well as commercial wooden floors.

James now does what he loves, working with many types of wooden flooring, taking pride in his finished projects and the company he built into a respectable and sustainable business – and to date, James is a well-known professional and experienced wooden flooring contractor with extensive knowledge. He has developed many unique ways to enhance and restore wooden floors, pulling on vast experience and training. The company trades with most of the leading suppliers.

Some Examples

Before and after samples of floors that we have worked on in  the Yeovil area of Somerset.

Oak Floor Yeovil - Before Yeovil Oak Floor Restoration - After

This is an Oak Floor we worked on in a house in Yeovil.

The floor needed to be sanded, have gaps filled with sawdust and resin and was then finished in a natural mat hard wax oil to give it whole new lease of life!

This original pine floor in Yeovil was looking very tired, stained and was looking far from it’s best.

We sanded it back to its natural colour and at the customers request coloured in it in a walnut stain and finished with silk lacquer.

Pine Floor Yeovil - Before Pine Floor Yeovil - After
Pine Floor Aged Yeovil - Before Pine Floor Aged Yeovil - After

This Pine flooring has aged into golden colour, which is quite normal but our customer in Yeovil wanted it to have a more natural soft look.

We sanded it back to the wood and finished it in a raw colour to keep the floor as natural as possible and to preserve that soft colour for as long as possible.

BENEFITS OF A WOODEN FLOOR

Best value for money

Quality wooden flooring will last for generations provided the right care and maintenance is undertaken.

Ethical Sourcing

Wooden flooring is a precious commodity and has been a highly-prized asset in some of the great historic buildings in the world, but some species are approaching extinction so there is an agreement between suppliers and fitters to only use ethically sourced wood.

Sustainability

Wooden flooring is a sustainable choice, it produces less emission to mill wooden flooring than other alternatives, such as vinyl and laminate. It also has the potential to be sanded back multiple times, allowing for a new looking floor time and again. This means the lifetime costs of wood flooring is less than any carpets/laminates, which will need to be replaced.

Sanded and made new

No other floor gives you the lifestyle ‘value for money’ that wooden flooring does. After 10 years + you can have it sanded and re styled in many different colours and finishes.

WOODEN FLOOR FACTS

Temperature Regulator

A wooden floor keeps your feet warm on a cold day and cool on a hot day – Because wood’s cellular structure creates thousands of tiny air pockets per cubic centimetre. This makes wood an effective material for insulation, more so than tiles or laminates.

Indoor climate

Wood helps regulate your indoor climate – because wood has the ability to absorb moisture from the air and later releases it back when conditions are drier.

A living breathing thing

Wood flooring is a living breathing thing, much like plants, wood flooring will shrink in the summer and absorb moisture in the winter.

Fine ageing

Wood flooring will age over time, gaining new colours and tints as the years roll by.
